Paula Abdul lying? New cell phone for lie detecting?

In reading the new this morning, there were two interesting tidbits!

Supposedly, tonight on ABC’s Primetime Live, an ex-American Idol contestant from a previous season is going to speak out that he had an affair with Paula Abdul.

Ms. Abdul is adamantly denying it!

According to the text I have seen, the accuser is supposedly going to play a phone message left by Abdul. This should be very interesting!

If he plays a tape with her voice, you certainly won’t need my insight on the matter.

Second, MSNBC broadband is highlighting a new cell phone called “The Truster” that can supposedly “detect lies” by detecting stress. See Biz-Tech, then Sci-Tech.

However, a polygraph expert says that this “stress” reader isn’t a good indication of lies because people can be stressed for a variety of reasons and it doesn’t mean they are lying. Very true. The polygraph expert says you will be just as accurate if you flip a coin! Hmmm… I’d love to play with that tool and carry it with me to see what I think, but I’m not up for a $99 experiement! Oh well.
