I saw a massive meteor last night
I had just crawled into bed and my husband turned off the light. As I laid back, a bright light streamed into my eyes. It didn’t jar me at first as the full moon does this at certain times of the year, and I thought, “Hmmm… I don’t remember seeing the moon, but maybe I missed it.”
Read moreThen things happened quickly. I noticed that the light was moving at the same time my husband reacted. He jumped up and ran to our French doors. I sat up to get a better view. I saw a huge fireball go from blue to red to orange and then burn out. It was huge!
“Is it a huge firework?” I asked my hubby (which is not usual where we live). “No, I don’t think so,” he said. We both stood silent listening for a big bang, just in case. No noise ever came. I wondered if it was a plane crash. I have had this horrible fear my entire life, I will see one and I don’t ever want to see one!
“Did you see it?” he asked.
“Yes, I did. It was a large fireball as full as a full moon! Did you?”
“No, I didn’t see it. It just lit up the entire room. That’s what caught my eye.”
I explained to him what I saw. I then remembered seeing a meteor that huge in the news once and thought that is what it might have been.
I just went to check the news, and low and behold, others saw it too!! It happened at around 10:02 PM. It was a meteor. Wow!!
Cool stuff. I’m glad it didn’t land on anyone!! It would have been devastating!! Some people reported hearing a sonic boom, too. I was shaking after I realized what it was…Scary!
