Her expression was genuinely fake. His was at first truthful, which suggests that the first time he saw the clip, he was quite astonished, but later he was putting on a show.

The expressions seem done for effect of fear, held in place. But they seem to show concern. Overall they’re enjoying their reactions and they’re both following each other closely in their behaviors. I don’t know what emotion they’re displaying when they laugh but it seems kind of contemptuous, like only an idiot would go into the sea after seeing that.

The way they froze like that, it’s like they were trying to comprehend exactly how huge that thing was by picturing themselves next to it. And the thing most people when suddenly next to a large animal like that is to freeze. So it’s a weird hybrid of shock and fear but feeling completely safe at the same time.
