Malaysia Flight 370 Pilot Mass Murder

60 Minutes Australia aired a show this past week where they interviewed international experts on the missing Malaysia flight 370. The experts concluded that the pilot Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah took down the plane on purpose killing himself and all 239 passengers and crew on board. They believe his actions were intentional and deliberate.

If you recall, when the plane first disappeared, I came out on March 19, 2014, eleven days after the plane went missing, and shared my thoughts on the pilots from looking at their photos.  I wrote that from facial profiling of the Captain. I had concerns about him and a possible “deviant side” to his personality. I did not worry about the co-pilot.  Check it out here.

From 2014:

…I see a slight deviant side to his personality–a side that makes me pause slightly. I have hesitation to trust him completely. And ironically, I don’t see this side of him in all of his photos, but is clearly there, which means he could have fooled people.

Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, in the photos found online of him, showed many expressions of contempt. Contempt is an expression of superiority, an arrogance and better-than-you attitude that can’t be dismissed–then add in his deviant side and I had elevated concerns.

His photos also revealed he had a dual personality, too, that was clearly evident.

While personality profiling isn’t 100% predictive, it does give you awareness that there is INCREASED RISK which is very important for safety.  Scientists have been studying “personality identification at zero acquaintance” and they are finding it has significant accuracy and value.  I have a natural talent for this and believe it could be of great use to keep people safe.

There is so much information on the Internet today, you probably feel like I do: it’s information overload. And if you are a specialist in one area or another, you see there is a lot of misinformation out there as well. It’s rampant and staggering!

I specifically see a lot of inaccurate information about understanding human behavior, spotting deception and emotional intelligence.  So many people are trying to sell you ways to be emotionally more intelligent, and most of it is nonsense.

But I did see this article today and I thought it was very well written:

15 signs that you’re emotionally intelligent, even if it doesn’t feel like it

Give it a read.I agree these are signs of an EI person! Of course there is more, but if you tick these off–it’s a great sign!

Shopping for a new car?

I’ve been shopping for a new car lately, and it seems every time I enter into a dealer, the approach on how to get a good deal on a car changes. Even the sales techniques change.

This time, I went to Hyundai dealers and one thing was funny: They all had the same approach. They would greet me at the door, and then ask me to sit.  Next they’d want information such as my name, address, etc. and they’d take that information down.

It’s a great sales approach, not because they get your information, or attend to you, the customer.

They also asked me to sit when I finished test driving the vehicle as they went to get their manager.

The salesman are employing a technique here, which I suspect is very intentionally, and a good salesman will immediately have knowledge about you in that short interaction.  And that information isn’t from any information you give to them.

Chase’s Expression

Yesterday I asked viewers who caught Chase’s microexpression on the Bachelorette Monday night. And only one viewer identified it after many people responded.

The expression is above, and the information revealed (that Chase is surprised) allows us to match Chase’s words to his facial expression and know if he is truthful.

Was Chase truthful to Jojo in this interaction?

Personality-Based Emotional Intelligence Test

I have been spending time trying to understand more information about emotional intelligence, and how it combines with my ability to spot deception. Having read about emotional intelligence lately, I am finding the definitions fall short in describing the depth of my “tool set”, for a lack of a better term. While I do understand emotions extremely well, I believe there is more to reading people than just emotions. Emotions, to me, are a subset of my skills, as is deception detection. It’s one element, but not the largest element. Does that make sense?

The boarder picture is understanding people and human behavior, and one explanation that I have been exploring lately is personality intelligence. I seem to have templates in my head for understanding people. I feel like I live in a world without strangers.  Maybe its due to pattern-matching of facial features, emotions, and behaviors together?  I am trying to understand it more.

Today in my quest for more information, I took a test online, the Personality-Based Emotional Intelligence Test. When my score popped up, it said I scored higher than 96.2% of people who took the test. That caught my eye. I found the test easy and required little thought. I missed three answers. I wrote the website owner to find out more information about this test and the research behind it (see comments below–people are getting the same score for different answers–uh oh!).

I truly believe who wrote this test gets it! They understand what I am doing and I’d like to learn more about it!  This correlates to the “facial profiling service” I offer.

On the website where the test is given, it says:

This website has been offering a wide selection of psychological tests, mostly personality tests, since late 2011 and has given millions of results since then. It exists to educate the public about various personality tests, their uses and meaning, the various theories of personality and also to collect research data. This website is under continuous development and new tests and information are being added all the time.

This website also exists for the promotion of open source assessments and open data.
