When you listen to Josh Powell’s voice, he is very emotional, yet resolved on what he is going to do–chillingly so. He was truly a tortured soul without question.   While it goes without stating, he was deeply disturbed.

The fact that Josh took an axe to his children is mortifying beyond words.  Did he do it because he was afraid they would try to escape out of the house if he set it on fire?  Or did he do it because he loathed them for spilling his secrets?  I tend to believe it was the latter.

The only lesson we can take from this is that when you see a person so out of touch with reality, and so depressed, as Josh clearly was–he was despondent –anything is possible.

Somer Thompson’s Killer Confesses: Gets Life

Somer Thompson disappeared in October 2009 and her body was found not long after in a landfill.  Somer’s mother, Diena Thompson, made many media appearances in her quest to get justice for her daughter.

In all honesty, and as shown on my blog, I found Diena Thompson’s behavior odd and I without question, did not believe Diena Thompson.

I have stated repeatedly in my blog while I do not believe someone, it does not believe that I am accusing them of murder.  While I can see lies with high accuracy, I never know why the lie is being told or what is being covered up.

I have always been suspicious that Diena knew more about what happened the day Somer disappeared than she was letting on, but so far, nothing has come to light to show otherwise, so at this point, I feel that I must admit I was wrong.

I misread Diena Thompson and I apologize publicly to her and anyone for my lack of trust. I try hard to understand people, but inevitably, I will fail.  I am human.

Today, Jarred Harrell, the man police arrested months after Somer’s murder, has plead guilty to killing Somer.  He was sentenced to life in prison.

From News4Jax.com, “Harrell admitted that he confined Somer, sexually assaulted her, lewdly touched her in private areas and strangled her. He admitted that he then put her body in a container and then put the container in a Dumpster.”

I apologize…truly.

Arrest in Veno Leigertwood’s Murder

There was has been an arrest this week in the Veno Leigertwood murder.  Veno was murdered outside his home in the early morning hours of September 13, 2008.

Dateline did a story on the murder and interviewed Veno’s wife, Raven.  I thought she acted suspicious, though I said I needed to see more.  You can read my original thoughts here.

According to the Daily Times, Yeadon Police Chief Don Molineu said about Raven, “With the facts we have now, she has been ruled out,” he said.

It will be interesting to watch this case go to trial.

You can read the latest update on the case here.

The 5 Stories of Michael Boyd

For those of you following the Ryan Ferguson case, there is an interesting video created by Citizens for Justice (CFJCOMO.COM).

On the night that Kent Heitholt was murdered, a co-worker of Heitholt, Michael Boyd, was the last to see him alive, has made inconsistent statements, yet was never closely looked at as a murder suspect.

I find Michael Boyd’s behavior suspicious, too.  You can read my thoughts here.
