Murder Suspect Confesses to Killing 8-year Old Boy

This is a sad story coming out of Brooklyn, New York. An 8-year old boy wanted to walk home from summer camp alone without his mom. They practiced and rehearsed it.  He had to walk 7 blocks.  Sadly, on the first day the boy was to do it by himself, he got lost and asked a stranger for help.  That stranger ended up killing and dismembering him.   What a horrific story!

The confessed killer is Levi Aron, 34, also of Brooklyn.

I find it interesting how Levi says, “I understand this may be wrong and I’m sorry for the hurt that I have caused.”

He understands this MAY be wrong?

Wow.

He is under suicide watch until he can undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Josh Powell’s Dad Speaks Out

Many people when children do bad things want to blame the parents for the problem saying the apple doesn’t fall too far from the cart. In some instances this is true and in others it is not.  In this case, however, it is absolutely true. We can see where Josh Powell gets his absurd ways, without question.

The fact that Josh’s dad, Steve Powell, is controlling Susan Powell’s diaries from when she was a little girl and plans to post them to prove his theories is outrageous, and the fact he is accusing her of running away with another man when the last known person to see her was his son, is sickening.

I do not believe Steve for an instant that Susan Powell was in any way promiscuous. Nor do I believe she ran away. There was a wet spot in the Powell’s living room and Josh dang well knows what happened, if you ask my opinion.  Steve doesn’t want to talk about that, does he?

I find it interesting how Steve talks for his son and says, “we”.  Why isn’t Josh speaking for himself?   Why does his dad feel the need to talk for his son??

This man, in my opinion, is as twisted as his son, sadly.

You can read my opinions of Josh Powell when he first spoke out here.

Travis Forbes Attacks Woman, Tries to Kill her

Back in April of this year, we watched Travis Forbes talk to a local news station about missing 19-year old Kenia Monge. Travis was the last person to see her before her disappearance, yet claimed no involvement. His interview was littered with hotspots and I wrote that I did not believe him. You can read my thoughts here. Sadly, no one has located Kenia Monge.

Yesterday, Travis Forbes was arrested attempted murder, arson and car theft. On June 5, 2011, Lydia Tillman, 30, was badly beaten and rescued from a burning building after jumping out the window.

Media sources have revealed that she was allegedly raped, choked, stomped on her throat, and believed to be dead. The suspect, which is now believed to be Forbes, poured bleach in and on her body, then set her apartment on fire, and stole her car.

There is an eerie connection between the behaviors in this crime to the disappearance of Kenia Monge. When Kenia Monge disappeared, witnesses reported seeing Forbes burn something in a 55-gallon barrel and worse, he was seen using bleach at his place of employment in the middle of the night on security camera and wheeling a large ducted tape cooler out his place of employment.

I was informed by a reader that police searched Travis Forbes dad’s house last night with cadaver dogs. I suspect, if this is true, they are looking for Kenia Monge.

What a sad story. I am glad Travis Forbes is off the streets today being held on $350,000 bond.

Breaking News: Thomas Bögerl Commits Suicide

According to an Eyes for Lies reader, and TMNews, Thomas Bögerl, a banker, whose wife was taken for randsom back in May of 2010 and was found dead beside a road not to long after, was also found dead today.  Apparently he committed suicide by hanging.

The Eyes for Lies reader wrote:

Just a quick update on the German Boegerl case that you wrote about in the past. It is just going through the various news outlets over here that today about noon, Thomas Boegerl has been found dead in the fitness room of his home by the housekeeper. It seems that he hanged himself. Police found a suicide letter, but there is no word yet as to its contents.

I went online and found this news article as well. I have translated this for you using Google Translation.

Rome, July 11 (TMNews) The German banker Thomas Boegerl, widower of Mary Boegerl, committed suicide, hanging himself in his home. He writes on his online version of Germany’s Die Bild tabloid, which also confirms the local police. The man’s lifeless body was found by the cleaning lady around 12 today.

Boegerl‘s wife was kidnapped in May 2010 and his body found in early June. His kidnappers and killers have left no trace, and after 14 months on the mystery woman’s death remains unsolved.

I was watching this case because the father, Thomas, when he spoke to the media pleading for his wife’s return didn’t display oblique eyebrows of sadness like his children did, and while it wasn’t conclusive of guilt by itself, it was a huge red flag. Thomas had several red flags in his behavior, and now with this suicide, you have to wonder what truly happened.

Update 7-12-2011

I read the news this morning, and apparently Thomas left a suicide note that was to his two children — it was private say police and won’t be released.  It was oddly one sentence and it didn’t give any reason or motive.  He was, however, in the care of a treatment facility for depression.  He was struggling to keep his job says one of his co-workers.  He left the treatment facility for the weekend, went home and killed himself.

An Alternate Juror Speaks Out

In the video above an alternate juror speaks out. What do you think about his thoughts?

Lisa Daily asked me about what I thought of Casey Anthony’s face during the verdict.  Before the verdict was read, Casey gave a blank expression. I think she was still working to keep her emotions in check. When the verdict was read, however, they leaked out involuntarily.  Casey demonstrated a variety of emotions from a micro smiles to sadness (oblique eyebrows).  She shows a release in tension, too.

I do not see her micro smile as a duper’s delight in the technical sense that she is leaking out joy that she is believing believed as she is lying.  She isn’t saying anything here. Could she proud she got away with murder?  Sure.  Could she be feeling happiness for not being found guilty? Yes.  Could she be happy because this ordeal is finally over?  Absolutely.  Why she is happy we cannot speculate.
