I feel so violated by Manti Te’o

I just finished watching the hour long show with Katie Couric, and I can’t believe what I just saw.  I am speechless.

This is one of the most unbelievable interviews I think I have seen in every sense of the word.

It was so surreal if I didn’t know any better I’d think I just took some psychedelic drug. I know I did not, but man that interview was beyond bizarre.

Tell me you saw through him. Please?  I need that for my sanity right now.

To say I’m disgusted would be an understatement. If you sit here next to me right now, I couldn’t wipe that expression off my face if I tried–not for all the tea in China.

Just wow.

I’ve watched hundreds of people in interviews over the years, and this one is one of the most disturbing I’ve seen in a long time.

Does that give you a sense of what I think of Manti?

Steve Harvey Full of Emotion

This is a great video where Steve Harvey gets surprised on his show.  His reaction in this video is fascinating to watch because at first you don’t know what is going on.  You can see Steve is getting overwhelmed but he is tense so you can’t help but wonder if this a positive connection or a negative one.

What is the first time you know before Steve says a word if this is a positive or negative experience for him?

Stop reading this if you want to look and come back.

Granted, the stranger in the video says, “Do you still love me baby?” so you get a huge hint there, but Steve’s reaction really makes you wonder if he feels the same way, doesn’t it?  So at what point does he confirm this is a positive experience for him?

At point thirty-three into the video, Steve turns his head and as he does there is a very slight upturn of the lips (very slight) and then five seconds later (point thirty eight), we see sadness envelope Steve in the eyes. They droop dramatically.  Then a second or two later the tears come and his eyebrows, while very bushy, go oblique.

When his friend says, “I’m waiting for my answer buddy” I’m on the tip of my toes.  What is Steve going to say?  He then lifts his eyebrows, which shows his second positive response, and third, the tone of his voice cues up positively when he says back, “Hey man”.

When Steve starts talking about his struggles, you can feel the pain in voice, can’t you?

This is a great emotional video, and a beautiful story about how one man helped out another in need and Steve never forgot that.

I have had three absolutely beautiful human beings support me in my efforts to share my abilities with others.  When I thought no one would ever see what I could do or ever believe in me, these three men did and it has been through their constant belief in me, support and encouragement that doors and opportunities have opened for me.  I saw one of them yesterday and the other back in November. One I have yet to meet, but I am looking forward to the day I get too.  These three men believe in me, give me confidence and encourage me when I need a lift and even when I don’t. Their spirits have each touched me deeply and I value them tremendously.  They have been so generous and kind to me. I will always be grateful.

My three heros are Steve, Demetri and Daren.  Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for believing in me.  Your support means the world to me, and I will never, ever forget what you three have done for me.  I only hope I can return your generous spirit back to you in other ways…

Lie Expert Opinion on Lance Armstrong

Look at the face of Lance Armstrong in his interview with Oprah last night.  Do you see a man who is upset and hurting that he  viciously bullied people and treated not only his friends and teammates pathetically, but he lied to the world?  Does his face show any regret?

While I would never rely on a still shot to tell me the whole story, Lance has no problem cracking a smile through his entire interview, and worse, he didn’t show an ounce of sadness or regret the entire time. Instead he flashes contempt several times over.  Watch this clip.

Yeah sure, Lance sat down with Oprah and decided to state the obvious for which he could no longer deny to any sane person, but was he sorry for what he did?  I don’t believe so.  Was he sorry he got caught and is paying the ultimate price?  I believe so.

Lance seems actually pleased with what he could pull of, if you ask me.  He is still arrogant, which is one of my biggest indicators someone a high propensity to lie.  He is nowhere near humble–even with all he has been through–which is shocking if you ask me.

And worse, I has highly disturbed that Lance admitted in so many words that he lacked a conscience. When he was asked if he ever felt wrong about what he did, he said no.  When he was asked if he ever felt bad about it, he replied no–scarier.  When Oprah asked did you ever feel like you were cheating?  He said no — scariest.  Yes, this is very scary as he should feel differently now, but clearly his emotions support that he feels the exact same way as he always did. He feels no guilt, shame or regret.  That’s chilling!

While Lance said some of the right words, he also was still notably evasive and refused to discuss certain topics or people.  When someone comes clean — all the way clean — they don’t use these tactics, and these were tactics. When it came to talking about Betsy Andreau, look at what Lance said, “I don’t want to take that on.”  His words say it all. Is that the response of someone who is coming clean and honest?  I don’t think you need me to answer that. He also didn’t want to talk about Dr. Ferrari.

Lance also wanted us to believe he just gave the UCI two checks for $125,000 but they were not to influence his drug test results. When Oprah pointedly asked him in the interview why he gave the money to the organization since we know now know his original reason was a lie, Lance struggled to answer the question. Lance struggles to answer several questions–clearly stuttering for words.  He finally said “because they asked me too”.  I don’t think anyone will ever buy that–and he wants us to accept his apology?

Lance tells us who he is and the picture he himself paints of himself is of someone who is ugly, flawed and untrustworthy.   He even says, “I’m a flawed character…”  As Oprah always says, when someone tells you who they are believe them!

Check back for more. As I see snippets of the interview, I may analyze some for you in the coming days.

Dr. Phil Episode: Raylynn.

Dr. Phil had a horrific story of a woman, Raylynn, who fell pray to a cult where the cult leader eventually proclaimed he was “God”.  Despite the fact the cult leader openly slept with other women, raped children, and abused his followers, Raylynn was never was able to rationalize his control away.

Raylynn brought her then 14 year old daughter, Sunny, to a hotel and handed her off to the cult leader, whom she lived with to have sex with him, and left her alone. Horrific.

In the video above, you can see Raylynn and her now grown daughter, Sunny, talking to Dr. Phil.  Early in the show, Sunny said she forgave her mother even though she was forced to have sex with Sunny multiple times.

Curly Thorton, the cult leader, died in 1999.   He was clearly a master manipulator and a monster, but Raylynn still seems to be under his control.

Watch as Dr. Phil asks Raylynn to burn the box of memories she has of Curly.  We see tears, but I don’t believe they are from sadness.  Instead, I see a woman who is utterly confused and frustrated–who is still clinging to a belief she said earlier in the show.  She said, “What if Curly is God?”  She can’t let him go!

If Raylynn was totally on board with Dr. Phil and believed Curly was a monster, she would have had no problem letting go of that box and burning it.

Instead, we see a woman who is tortured by letting the box go.  She doesn’t get relief when she burns it, instead she moans out in pain…without a doubt, still thinking, “What if Curly really was God?”

This woman needs some serious help. I hope Dr. Phil gave it to her.
