Will you be watching the debate tonight?

American Flag Detail

If you haven’t heard: The candidates for the President of the United States will be debating on TV tonight. I think it is a must watch for all Americans.

Many body language experts have come out to share with you tips for reading people.  Some tell you if either candidate is touching their nose, he may not be telling the truth. Please know this is nonsense.  How many of you rub your nose during the day because it truly itches?  It is not a reliable clue to deception ever.

Another expert talked about how hand talk is a sign of aggression.  This expert doesn’t realize when someone is passionate, they also talk with their hands, too. Hand movements can mean many things, and unless you apply context, it doesn’t tell us anything in and of itself.

Shoulder shrug does mean that someone is uncertain, so it is important to match it to what they are saying.  Does the doubt make sense?

One thing I believe we will all see a lot of tonight are social (fake) smiles because this is a forum where candidates are trying to win votes.   Which candidate will give the most social smiles?  Who will smile the most sincere and most often?

One thing to keep in mind is that both of these candidates have been coached on how to behave, and that coaching will be applied tonight.  So which candidate comes off as more authentic?  That is key!

I am sure there will be lots of clues tonight about who is telling the truth and who is lying, but the problem is people are emotionally invested in their candidate and when I point out the truth and it doesn’t agree with one’s emotional beliefs, I often become the target of their frustration, and frankly, I don’t care to become that– so it makes it hard for me to comment.

If I can find enough things to write about that are non-partisan, I will consider doing so.

I may — no promises— long into FB tonight and share thoughts live as I watch it.

Off to the Dentist Today

This Won't Hurt Much--Heh-Heh

I’m off to the dentist today and not with any fear about pain, but concern about deception.  My experiences with dentists rank at the very bottom.  Seeing deception, it seems I cannot find an honest dentist for over a decade, and I have run through them like water!

I even took a recommendation from a fabulous oral surgeon and went to the dentist he recommended. I know he believed she was a good dentist and it is clear from my experiences now that she is fooling even him!  At first, she treated me good, but when I sent her my parents, she was not aware my mom had the same ability as me and she lied to my parents left and right. She tried to get my mom to do a root canal on a tooth and when my mom asked why, she said you must have an abcess that you don’t know about.

You’ve got to be kidding me.  Dentistry isn’t about guessing. It’s about fact finding and investigation–not just oh you probably have an abscess! I don’t think so…

And that’s wasn’t even the whole of it, but I don’t care to go on about it.

I’ve tried called dental labs to ask who does precise work only to be sent to a guy who I truly worry could kill someone.  I kid you not! The guy was crazy and very unsanitary at that. He had no assistant — he worked completely alone, and did horrible work. His fillings didn’t even last 5 years.

I asked for recommendations from friends and strangers only to find I was given the name of the first woman I chose above — three times.

And the other one I was recommended?  He didn’t recognize when his filling failed.  He blamed it on me and told me to keep taking more tylenol at high doses that he was sure the pain would go away. I ended up at the oral surgeon’s office after that fiasco!

If there is one field that I am highly disappointed with it is without question dentistry. And yet I worked for one of the best dentists in my small town for a year–so I know good and honest and genuine dentists do exist!

Inevitably, some dentist will read this and please know I welcome it.  How would you go about finding an honest dentist?  I’d love to know…

My Thoughts on Bobbi Parker

When I watched Bobbi Parker tell her story on Dateline last week, I have to say I did not believe her at all. Her emotions were inconsistent with the story she was telling us, her memory of what happened doesn’t make sense (she remembers waking up driving, yeah right!) and the fact that she never asked for help is ridiculous. Now add in the love letters and that she had absolute freedom to

If you caught Dateline this past weekend, they profiled the case of Bobbi Parker. The wife of a Deputy prison warden, she made pottery with a convicted murderer. Then one day she vanished.

Bobbi claims in 1994 she was abducted, beaten and held against her will. She wasn’t found for 11 years.
