Oprah’s Lying Guest…

gets four months in jail for admitting to scamming her mother-in-law out of $960 on on the Oprah show. It looks like things could get much worse as well.

Show Review

Last night, PAX TV aired the Lie Detector show I wrote about earlier. I was a bit disappointed in the show because the first person they aired was a psychic who believed she had traveled with aliens.

I know. I know.

Such a scenario doesn’t give the show much credibility, unfortunately. I was hoping for something more grounded, more believable.

Naturally, when they put psychic Clarissa Bernhardt on the machine, and asked her if she did in fact “travel” with aliens, and she replied yes, it naturally detected a lie. It certainly didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this story out.

Funny thing was though when Clarissa lied, she did a peculiar thing. She slowed the pace of her speech way down. It was almost humorous. If you’ve taped the show, go back and watch. Each time she creates a story, she talks methodically slow — slow enough to bore you to tears! You have to wonder if is making up her lies as she talks! When she talks about benign stuff, watch her rate of speech increase. It’s entertaining.

Please don’t think because someone slows their speech that this indicates a lie. It does not necessarily mean it is. Some people will do this naturally. This just happens to be Clarissa Bernhardt’s way of lying.

Bernhardt blinked a lot on the show too — much more than normal. However, I wouldn’t attribute that to her lies because she was also dealing with bright studio lights. Her blink rate stayed consistently high during the show. It might indicate nerves — regardless of honesty. Had her blinking rate changed, however, it would help us pinpoint where precisely she was nervous, or uncomfortable. In this situation, her fast blinking eyes gives us no clues whatsoever.

The second person to come on to the show was a woman who believed she was an illegitimate daughter to a famous Venezuelan dictator. Her name was Monica Vega.

She said she was convinced that the Venezuelan dictator Marcos Perez Jimenez is her father and she wanted to take a lie detector to prove it. But as anyone knows, you can’t test beliefs. You can only test if someone is lying so they brought on Monica Vega’s mother — Marita.

These two people just didn’t sit well with me. They gave me pause right from the start. Neither of them spoke the truth if you ask me.

Ironically, if you’ve taped the show — watch Monica’s mother, Marita, talk. She clenches her teeth together when she speaks about Monica’s father. It’s like she locks her jaw and then tries to talk. It appears as if she is “acting out” a scenario — and not recollecting the truth. Most people, when recollecting the truth, don’t behave in this way.

Furthermore, these two women are on welfare and desperate for money. When the host of the show mentions that Jimenez was a nasty dictator and that his money is probably blood money, Monica Vega says she knows it is blood money — but makes a face to the contrary. She certainly doesn’t believe it is blood money. In either case, she says she wants the money so she can “do good” by her mother and others.

The behaviors of these two women just don’t add up. They continue by saying that they hired an attorney to go after Jimenez before he died a few years ago — but their lawyer received death threats so they couldn’t get any representation. They said since they didn’t have any money and this was the only guy who would take the case on contingency, there was nothing they could do. They say they just didn’t have the money to do a DNA test.

Marita say she wishes there was a drop of blood left from Jimenez.

That’s a joke!

Also, when Marita talks about her connection to Jimenez, she doesn’t talk in complete sentences. She doesn’t give detailed facts. She mumbles and stumbles in her conversation. She doesn’t talk coherently, if you ask me. It’s not normal behavior.

Monica and Marita are hoping to get their hands on some of Jimenez’s money. According to the show his estate is worth some $700 million dollars.

Oddly enough, they did put Marita on the lie detection machine and she passed. They asked her if she had sexual intercourse with Jimenez in June/July of 1961 and she replied yes. They asked her if she had sex with anyone else during that time, and she said no.

Dr. Ed Gelb, the Forensic Psychophysiologist, who is a polygraph expert said she was telling the truth. Those were the only questions they asked.

They needed to ask a LOT more!!!

Perhaps Marita did have sex with Jimenez…but even if she did… I just don’t think these two women believe that Monica is Jimenez’s daughter. I just don’t!!

I don’t believe either woman- whatsoever.

The last thought I have is that the women’s response to the fact that Marita was telling the truth was a bit ironic. They were thrilled, hugged and cried.

Didn’t they already know the supposed truth? Why were they excited? Perhaps they fooled the detector?? When you are telling the truth — and it is finally so-called proven — a natural response would have been GREAT RELIEF. “See, I told you! (sigh)”.

You can’t tell your friends …

…you’re a lie detector!

I’m been so excited about my epiphany since October that I couldn’t hold it in anymore and I had to tell a few people that guess what — I finally figured out that I can see lies. I think I am a human lie detector.

Don’t laugh!

I did try to phrase it a little more tactful.

I left off the last sentence that says I’m a human lie detector. Yes, that’s way too tacky. Instead, I started out more scientifically that I discovered this article, and with that, I think I may be one of these people…

Fair enough?

The first person I told was my best friend from blanketty-blank. I choose to tell her because she has a good vision — the best vision and ability to read people of anyone I have met in my life so I thought she would understand. I thought she could relate to me to some degree. What I underestimated however is that she is an insecure person under her tough exterior and as soon as I told her — the conversation ended within two minutes.

Yes, I am dead serious. It ended abruptly.

I remember standing there a few weeks ago, holding the phone in my hand listening to the dial tone wondering….what happened? I told her, and here I am…listening to dial tone after a long conversation. We had a long conversation. Some twenty minutes. It was flowing wonderfully until I spoke up. Then it ended quickly.

In hindsight, I could feel her wheels spinning. My friends lies to me a lot about unimportant things (her happiness when she’s not, etc)…but most people do. I don’t judged her for it. I don’t judge most people when I see the source is insecurity and the target isn’t me– but rather more about themselves. It’s easy to let these lies go…

My friend, however, still became overwhelmed thinking about me seeing her lies. She became a shrinking violet on the phone and withered away like a wilting flower.

How sad.

I like her.

A lot.

I respect her even though we are in very different places in life. She has a great heart and she is a good person.

Normally, my friend would have just teased me and told me that I was nuts if she didn’t see what I was saying. She always did that if she thought I was off my rocker. If she did that, I would have let it go and let it go quickly.

I so want to share my excitement and enthusiasm but I guess I can’t. People don’t get joy in what I love to do — in what I am extraordinary skilled at. It’s a big contradiction for me and them. It isn’t about fun, for them. It’s about painful realities. I have to remember this…

Now I wonder if I will hear from her again. Will she’ll stay wilted with regard to me — or will she snap out of it and forget about it?

Hopefully she will just convince herself I am a nut job – and we’ll be fine again. I don’t ever have to mention it again. It’s obvious there is no room for it in our relationship and that is okay.

It just sucks. I’m so happy, so proud and confident that I found my place in the universe. I found my “purpose” though I haven’t figured out how to utilize it — I will — and yet I can’t share this joy face-to-face with anyone.

The only people I can talk to about it are you, my blog readers!!

Hi!
Guess what? I’m a lie detector.
Wanna meet for lunch one day?
Yeah right!!

PAX TV has a new show!

If you are interested in lie detecting, there is a show that I have read about that is airing on PAX TV titled Lie Detector. On the show, famous people who have been in the spotlight will have a chance to take a lie detector test to sway people they are the ones being honest!

It should be very interesting!

It’s on every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. ET. Check your TV listing for your local PAX channel.

Set your DVR or VCRs.

I plan on making it a date every Tuesday — and after the show I will post my thoughts here. I’m going to be looking for obvious signs of lying!

If you save your recording, you can go back and review the clues I see… Perhaps you can hone your lie detecting abilities!

Welcome to Spring
